“Autumn Begins” Today
At 9:06 am Beijing time today, “Autumn begins” in China. The scorching summer will hence gradually give way to the refreshing and beautiful autumn.
“Autumn begins” is one of China’s 24 solar terms, ranking No. 13, meaning the first half of the lunar year is finished and the second half begins.
Autumn heralds harvest in normal years. This year’s harvest will be measured exceptionally. Gone through the difficulties, we’ve reaped friendship, sympathy, and hope.
Time flies, but we stand true to the commitment made in the beginning of the year: Seize the day and live life to the full. So let’s work harder and give 2020 a surprise in return.
Autumn Evening in the Mountains
By Wang Wei, Tang Dynasty,Translated by Xu Yuanchong
After fresh rain in mountains bare,
Autumn permeates evening air.
Among pine-trees bright moonbeams peer;
Over crystal stones flows water clear.
Bamboos whisper of washer-maids;
Lotus stirs when fishing boat wades.
Though fragrant spring may pass away,
Still here’s the place for you to stay.
